John Froning is a licensed architect and principal of rev.ent architecture. He has worked in a wide variety of disciplines within the architectural field and has a broad range of experiences both professionally and personally. John received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Architecture degrees from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. While attending ASU he completed his last year of graduate school, including his thesis, at the Universität Stuttgart in Stuttgart, Germany.

The stark contrasts that the deserts of Arizona, with its sprawling cities, has to that of a greener, more urban context of southern Germany was a large influence during the final years of his education. Today, this manifests itself in a lifestyle and approach to design that can be found in his attitude towards sustainability, designs that function while achieving an overall positive aesthetic, as well as his understanding the impact good design and functionality has on the individual.

In addition to a private practice, John is an adjunct professor at Portland State University teaching all ranges of architectural studios.
